The Grantsville Days Parade will start at 6:45 pm. It is earlier this year to allow parade watchers more time to be able to enjoy the activities and entertainment at the Grantsville Park. This year there will be more rides for young children including a small Ferris wheel and a huge inflated slide. The children’s activities will be inside the little league field under the new ball field lights. There will not be a farm tractor-pulling contest this year, however the 4-wheeler pulling contest will be later and bigger.
Brother Short band will be returning this year on Saturday afternoon along with the annual bluegrass festival, jazz combo, country line dancing and country rock music.
The Sunday schedule will feature gospel music singer Carla Karst who appeared in Garrett County last year during the Wingfield Encounter at the Wisp. Evangelist Steve Wingfield will also be speaking on Sunday afternoon.
The 11 AM interdenominational church service will be held in the large pavilion #3 at the Grantsville Park and will feature praise and worship from Cornerstone Assembly of God in Boynton, Pa. With sensitivity to the diverse worship styles of the community, the worship team of Cornerstone Assembly of God will bring a contemporary flavor to Grantsville Day's worship experience along with a “touch of classic old time hymns. From today’s “Here I Am To Worship, to yesterday’s “Holy Holy Holy”, you’ll be sure to find a song that will lift your heart to God. As an added bonus, Cornerstone plans to feature the piano talents of Charlie Yommer Sr. of Grantsville MD. Charlie will be doing a special piano number for the offering time. Mark A. Garlitz of Salisbury, PA., director of the Cornerstone Worship Team, says “We are planning to bring a worship offering that will capture the hearts of all peoples and denominations in our Casselman Valley!”
Pastor Steven Heatwole will bring the message at the community service. The title of the sermon is "United in Christ Jesus". The focus will be what Christians have in common and in purpose through Jesus Christ. Heatwole has been the pastor of the Springs Mennonite Church for the past 23 years and a member of the Grantsville Area Ministerial Association. Steve has over the years been involved with local ministry efforts and community activities. Steve is married to Bonnie and they have two children, Sara and Ben who are students at Eastern Mennonite University, Harrisonburg, VA.
